Where There is Charity and Wisdom
---- St. Francis of Assisi (paraphrased)
Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.
Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor annoyance.
Where there is love and joy, there is neither greed nor selfishness.
Where there is peace and meditation, there is neither anxiety nor doubt.

Coffeeology
Express yourself...
Better latte than never...
Take life one cup at a time...
So many blends, so little time...
Friends don't let friends drink bad coffee...
Take time to smell the coffee...
Deja Brew: that feeling you've had this coffee before...

Imperfection
There would be no music if high C were the only note,
no art if spectrum red were the only color,
no joy in pleasure if pleasure were the only feeling -- and paradoxically,
there would be no perfection without imperfection.
What does this mean to me?
Well, first it means that I don't have to be perfect.
All I have to do is grow at a pace natural to me --
and that is all I have a right to expect of others.

Burma Shave Signs ... History lessons
For those who never saw any of the Burma Shave signs, here is a quick lesson in our history of the 1930's and '40's.
Before there were interstates, when everyone drove the old 2 lane roads, Burma Shave signs would be posted all over the countryside in farmers' fields.
They were small red signs with white letters. Five signs, about 100 feet apart, each containing 1 line of a 4 line couplet and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma Shave, a popular shaving cream.
Here are more of the actual signs:
DON'T STICK YOUR ELBOW

My idea of priceless photo
Meet Landon.
His father, Marine LCPL Carpenter, gave his life defending our country in Afghanistan earlier this year, a month before his son was born.
Baby Landon's Mom wants his story to be known.
Never forget the price of freedom.
Freedom
. . . we will be amazed before we are half way through.
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and will know peace.
No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.

Within our wonderful new world, we have found freedom from our fatal obsession.

Albino Hummingbird
A rare treat an albino hummingbird.
Something that is seldom seen and almost never photographed.
Fifteen-year-old photographer Marlin Shank was fortunate enough to capture
several images of a rare albino ruby-throated hummingbird while in a park in
Staunton , Va.
