Avoiding Blame

Higher Power, help me take responsibility 

for myself and my actions, 

because blaming others will only keep me stuck.

Action Or Inaction

SWAT = Surrender, Willingness, Action, Trust.

 I never felt that I had a choice in altering my life.

My decisions had been based on fear, pride, or ego.

As a result, those decisions led me down a path of self-destruction.

Today I try to allow my God to guide me on the road to sanity.

I am responsible for my action -- or inaction -- whatever the consequences may be.

Family Matters

But eventually the alcoholic, now fully understanding how much he did hurt his wife and children, now takes up his marriage responsibilities with a willingness to repair what he can and accept what he can't.

He persistently tries all of AA's Twelve Steps in his home, often with fine results.

He firmly but lovingly commences to behave like a partner instead of like a bad boy.

Let Freedom Ring

With the gift of a land and a nation comes responsibility to the Giver.

As a Christian, I am seriously impelled by the vision of my nation’s founders to seek liberty, peace, and justice for all – a task that is never completed.

Let me cultivate for the final harvest the seed my founders sowed.

 Freedom is not achievement but gift.

Freedom is not license but radical obedience to God’s liberating law of love.

Let me give thanks for the gifts of freedom I have received and, trusting in My Creator as did my nation’s founders, let me seek to share them as gifts with all who are still enslaved by political oppression, social or economic injustice, or personal sin.

 

 

Today we make again our own

The hope which Christ, our life, has sown:

In fertile fields and streets of stone,

Let freedom ring!

 

Where Justice works amid the weed

Of rampant want and choking greed,

To loose the voice of human need,

Let freedom ring!

 

Where Mercy’s fingers, slashed and torn,

Untangle love from twisted thorn

Of anger, disbelief and scorn,

In Christ, we tend what God has planned,

With justice, mercy, truth in hand

Let me pray for the gift of fidelity to all that God ask of me.

Where complacency darkens my vision of your will for me:

Where greed for personal gain dims my commitment to the welfare of all people:

Where the failure of faith discourages me from pursuing your goals for me:

God of all people and nations, you have called those who live in this land to pursue your vision of freedom, justice, and peace for all.

Keep me faithful to your gifts, that I may us them for the world’s good and the good of my own nation.

Let us not grow tired of doing good,

Responsibililty

It is always tempting to take credit for the gifts of grace and to lay the blame elsewhere for my faults.
If I do not claim responsibility for the choices that are truly mine, neither can I ask for or accept forgiveness.
To heavy for me, mine own offenses; to heavy not to allow my Creator to wipe them away.

The Seed Of Our Founding Fathers

at the cost of social or economic injustice toward others:

For all those who are enslaved by habits of sin:
-- grant them conversion of heat.

Replacing Fear And Intolerance

Today I try to replase by fear and intolerance
with faith, patience, love and acceptance.

the responsibility to judge others.
