The Laws of Life

The laws of nature cannot be changed and must be obeyed if you are to stay healthy.
No exceptions will be made in your case.
Submit to the laws of nature or they will finally break you.
And in the realm of the spirit, in all human relationships, submit to the moral laws and to the will of God.
If you continue to break the laws of honesty, purity, unselfishness, and love, you will be broken to some extent yourself.
The moral and spiritual laws of God, like the laws of nature, are unbreakable without some disaster.
If you are dishonest, impure, selfish, and unloving, you will not be living according to the laws of the spirit and you will suffer the consequences.

I pray that I may submit to the laws of nature and to the laws of God.
I pray that I may live in harmony with all the laws of life.

An Architect Of Peace

I swear I will not dishonor my soul with hatred, but offer myself humbly as a guardian of nature, as a healer of misery, as a messenger of wonder, as an architect of peace.

Being Sisters and Brothers of Nature

When we think of oceans and mountains, forests and deserts, trees, plants and animals, the sun, the moon, the stars, and all the galaxies, as God's creation, waiting eagerly to be "brought into the same glorious freedom as the children of God" (Roman 8:21), we can only stand in awe of God's majesty and God's all- embracing plan of salvation.
It is not just we, human beings, who wait for salvation in the midst of our suffering; all of creation groans and moans with us longing to reach its full freedom.
In this way we are indeed brothers and sisters not only of all other men and women in the world but also of all that surrounds us.
Yes, we have to love the fields full of wheat, the snowcapped mountains, the roaring seas, the wild and tame animals, the huge redwoods, and the little daisies.
Everything in creation belongs, with us, to the large family of God.

Elder's Meditation -- The Teacher

Nature is a living example of how communities live in harmony. I
f you go into the forest or mountain and sit still and watch, ask yourself, what lessons are being taught?
Then watch how the animals conduct themselves.
The trees could represent diversity.
The flowers could represent people.
Notice how everything in nature assists one another.
See how balance works.
See how conflict is handled.
Can you see acts of forgiveness?
Can you spot respect?
Nature is full of wisdom if wee will only consider her to be our teacher.

My Creator, today let me learn from nature.

Elder's Meditation -- Nature

Every plant, every animal, every insect, every bird, every tree is made up of God.
God is life and everything is alive.
When you are hunting, remember all nature is your friend.
All nature has purpose.
All nature participates in the life cycle.
Nature communicates;
Nature talks;
Nature listens;
Nature forgives;
Nature respects;
Nature loves.
Nature lives in harmony.
Nature follows the law.
Nature is kind.
Nature is balance.
The woods are alive and beautiful.
She is our friend.

Great Spirit, let me honor and
respect the forest and all the life it contains.

Elder's Meditation -- Opportunity Of Life

We need to look at nature and its inhabitants as our brothers and sisters.
Whenever we pick plants or herbs, we should leave an offering of tobacco.
We should talk to the plants and ask their permission to use them.
The plants will feel honored to be of service for each of them knows they are here to serve.
Each of them knows they carry a special medicine and this medicine is about continuing the cycle of life.
We need always to be grateful to our brothers and sisters.

Creator, I thank you for the opportunity of life.

The Original Instructions

A long time ago, in the beginning, the Creator gave to all people and to all things the Wisdom and the knowledge of how to live in harmony.
Some tribes call these teachings the original Instructions, the original teachings, or the Great Laws.
All of Nature still lives and survives according to these teachings.
In modern times, human beings are searching for the Instructions.
Many churches claim they have these Instructions.
Where are these teachings?
The Instructions are written in our hearts.

Creator, today, whisper to me the secrets of the original Instructions.

Messengers From The Wilderness – Weeds

Simply expressed, a weed is any plant that grows where it isn't wanted. Weeds are defined by their tendency to flourish at the expense of a gardener's overall vision, and we tend to battle their presence in our yards.

It is interesting to consider, though, that a plant is a weed only within a certain context, which is to say that one person's weed is another person's wildflower. Most of us have pulled at least one dandelion up by its roots and disposed of it in the interest of preserving the look of a perfect green lawn, yet the dandelion is good medicine, packed with healing properties and vitamin-rich leaves that are a delicious, spicy surprise in a summer salad.

In the wild, there is no such thing as a weed because the overall vision is in the hands of Mother Nature, who accommodates and incorporates all forms of life. In nature, balance is achieved over the long term, without the aid, or interference, of a human supervisor.

While one plant may prevail over others for a certain period of time, eventually it will reach an apex and then it will naturally decline, allowing for other forms to be born and survive. This self-regulating realm was the first garden of our ancestors, who learned the art of agriculture from studying the forests and fields of the as yet uncultivated earth.

In a sense, weeds are harbingers of this wildness, pushing their way into our well-ordered plots, undermining more delicate flora, and flourishing in spite of us.

The next time you see a weed, you might want to look deeply into its roots, discover its name, its habits, and its possible uses. Instead of seeing an unwanted intruder, you might see a healer offering its leaves for a medicinal tea or its flowers for a colorful salad.

At the very least, if you look long enough, you will see a messenger from the wilderness of Mother Earth, reminding you that, even in the most carefully controlled garden, she cannot be completely ruled out.

Living University

What we really need to learn is how to live life. Nature is the greatest university when we want to learn about balance, harmony, the Natural Laws and how to live life. But we will never learn unless we spend time in the "living university." Nature is full of examples, lessons, and exercises about life. Nature will help humans learn. Nature will help humans heal. Nature will help with Medicine, knowledge and healing. The reason our Elders are so wise is because they have attended the right educational system - nature's university.

Creator, help me to become wise.
